Ethereum, IPFS and Filecoin.

I'm eagerly looking forward to a decentralized and unstoppable Internet (as we all probably are) that mimics our current one. Please explain to me how the pieces fit together and how it might work if one were to build an uncensorable YouTube. Filecoin is the easy one, storage. IPFS for hashing, what does that exactly mean? I'm guessing the address bar. Then Ethereum/Mist possibly for the browser? Are there any other parts I'm missing? Thanks! Godspeed.

Thank you so much for this. Even if there are minor details left out, it gives a very good, broad interpretation of what is happening right now.

Nice write-up!

Whisper (direct messaging): A peer to peer identity and...

Doesn't this section match TCIP/IP?

IPFS does storage and content-based addressing. Filecoin is just a way to incentivize people to store IPFS content. It may be that Swarm also ends up being based on IPFS, which would (tbh) be pretty cool since it's basically becoming the de facto standard as it is.

IPFS is also storage. It allows hashed files to be spread out through the network and be retrieved from a decentralized node system, not just a hashing.

I thought filecoin was for incentivizing hosting things on ipfs?

Maybe I misunderstood though.
